Sport : an International Market

Sport market is nowadays directly related to many other sectors generating money. In fact, sports is associated to sponsorship, tourism, TV- broadcasting, clothing, advertising and many other activities,so it is normal to talk about competition in this market. In the United States, sport is a huge market, and according to TV viewing measures since 2000 the most important sport in The U.S.A are American Football, followed by Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, and Ice hockey, while in the world, Football remain the most important sport followed by cricket and basketball. A clear example of competition in sport field is the FIFA world cup of football. Indeed to organize such amazing competition, countries are in competition and should be able to demonstrate its infrastructure strength. In other words, they have to demonstrate that hotels and hospitals are fully prepared to host millions of fans, and the roads are ready and fully practicable… The organization of another great sport event, the Olympic Games requires also much more abilities.


 As the previous article mentioned it, sport clubs and football teams in particular enjoy from a strong community involvement. A football team can be cheered by a whole city, a state or region, a country to finally become internationally supported. It is this international level that football clubs gain more and more fans and therefore will be more able to get money from this community. According to Forbes, Manchester United has around 350 M fans in the world, and more than 60 million of followers in Facebook. Another great club the FC Barcelona has 78 M fans in social Medias and 260 Millions of fans around the world. The numbers shows perfectly how important it is nowadays for clubs to shine through the international level, since it improves the yields on the TV rights, on merchandising and sponsoring (47 million pounds paid by Chevrolet to be the main Manchester United sponsor)
